The Voluntary Women's Association for Community Development organized a seminar titled "Take Care of Yourself... You Deserve a Lot" to raise awareness about breast cancer, in collaboration with Al-Dasma Health City and the Kuwaiti Association for Breast Cancer Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery.
Sheikha Fadia Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, Chairwoman of the Association's Board of Directors, emphasized the association's commitment to organizing specialized campaigns and seminars every October to raise awareness about breast cancer in collaboration with public benefit societies. She explained that this seminar aims to promote preventive awareness and support early detection of breast cancer, based on community partnerships in organizing events that serve society.
For her part, Dr. Mona Al-Qattan, the association's Secretary-General, similarly expressed the association's focus on family-related issues and its commitment to playing an active role in official events that specifically concern women and children, in service of the community. She added that this awareness seminar included participation from public benefit societies, along with testimonials from women who have recovered from the disease, sharing their experiences with the audience and discussing how they overcame the illness to begin a new life full of positivity.
The seminar also featured contributions from the Kuwaiti Association for Breast Cancer Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery, with Dr. Sarah Al-Yuha delivering a presentation on the disease, its types, methods of prevention, and breast reconstructive surgery techniques. Additionally, Al-Dasma Health City participated with an intervention from mental health therapist Ali Al-Sultan, who spoke about mental health and the importance of rehabilitation and psychological treatment for patients.
